My advice to meet people in NYC - Get a Dog!!

So, the other day, I was out walking my (male) roommate's dog, and I noticed I was suddenly irresistable to the opposite sex. I mean, here I am, walking around in sweat pants, hair pulled back in a knot-like disaster, carrying poop bags, and not a single guy seems to be able to pass me without smiling, saying hello, or trying to ask me about my dog. What is it about a dog that suddenly makes me more approachable? Is it because I am not trying hard to look pretty?? Or maybe it is because asking about someone's dog is a good entrance into conversation....not too threatening because you can keep the talk all about the puppy, but perhaps it will go some where else. Perhaps having an animal makes one appear more nurturing and thus attracts a certain amount of attention from male suitors....??? Regardless, I have now advised my roommate he should use his dog as a "chick-magnet." I mean seriously, this dog is so freakin' cute and to see the way he walks with her and loves her....what woman wouldn't swoon?? If I were ever to walk up to a man on the street it would only be because I first noticed his animal...I know that's just me, but I would NEVER approach a man otherwise....I wonder how hard it is for men to approach us day after day. Maybe if we all got cocker spaniel puppies.....
