The "Old Fashioned" Guy

“The True Romantic” – 29 years old, Upper West Side resident and standard jazz vocalist, this pocket-watch carrying old-world character is humbled by the simple things in life and a simpler way of life from the era of which he sings.

WDYKAR: Do you like it when a woman dresses in a provocative style (low cut tops, short dresses, revealing apparel)?

A: The most attractive women to me are subtle, classy, and understated. It's very easy to advertise for some quick attention, but for me, quiet confidence (not arrogance) will always draw me close.

WDYKAR: Why do some men show interest, take a girl's number, and then never call?

A: This is probably because they're not really interested. Men & women often show interest just to keep their options open. People often make it more difficult for themselves by putting too much pressure on the initial meeting. (then again, that initial meeting can say it all...)

WDYKAR: Do you consider there to be a double standard for girls who have sex on the first date? Does it lessen the appeal?

A: You can always decide to have sex, but you can't undo the sex you jumped into to soon. I suppose it depends on the level of attraction, but it is nice to hold off and resist your temptations, which will only raise the level of excitement and intensity.

WDYKAR: At what point do you / would you consider a girl your girlfriend?

A: After 40-50 years or so, when our grandchildren are starting up college and most of our conversations are comprised of reminding each other what we were talking about in the first place.

Seriously, this happens when I feel that I need to connect with her every day, even if only for a moment, just to say hello and hear her voice. That's usually when I know.

WDYKAR: How is she to know when its exclusive and you have no interest in seeing other women?

A: This happens in a conversation. Two people have to be able to communicate in love at any level. If not, let go and move on.
